Product
Testing This is how
manufacturers used to test their products.
Many
still do test this way, and since we want you to be able to compare apples to
apples,
here is a Nova LS loaded with 6,200 pounds (3 tons) of plywood
and a
BOSS™ with more than 1,450 pounds of humanity.
Please don't try these
stunts at home.
They don't test the tables for what you need them to do anyway...
unless you're storing plywood or football teams.
Now, we do it better...
Look for the
Oakworks trademark. Only THEN will you know that it has passed this
especially rigorous UL testing regimen. Only THEN will you know that your
table is equal to the kind of demands YOU need to make.
All of
these tests are performed with the leg extensions at maximum height.
You need a
table that ...
So we
build tables with these components.
Then we
test the tables to make sure they do what you need them to do.
...won't tip.
Not every client can bend over to tie his shoes while sitting on the
table, but every client will get on and off the table while sitting on an
edge.
We design and test the stability of each model for the greatest measure
of stability possible in order to prevent tipping. We also provide
the frame strength necessary to support this kind of concentrated loading.
Stability Test:
Placed
on the table's boarding points, the full dynamic load simulates your
largest clients sitting on any edge of the table top.
...can
be pushed on but won't be pushed around.
We engineer and test the
geometry of the table to achieve the stiffness and resiliency that will
absorb the kind of forces that can crack a leg extension or cause
squeaking and flex over time.
Integra-hinge, laser- aligned integrated ribsandspecially
designed leg extension profiles are some of the features that support
our table through this rigorous test, enabling you to do what you need to
do.
Lateral Force Test:
Bearing the entire dynamic load, frame and leg extensions are tested with
sideward forces equaling a full 25% of the dynamic load: like pushing and
pulling a client on the table.
...can take
the shock of a large client dropping down onto the hinge point.
A client misjudging the height of the table and falling down onto it is a
much more concentrated force than any other situation your table will
experience, and the one that can lead to catastrophic failure.
Integra-hinge™
Firmly locks together the table hinge, the folding brace brackets and
the table halves for uniquely uncompromising strength.
Finger-jointed
hardwood frame This feature adds strength through exacting geometry and fine joinery.
The
total dynamic load, dropped onto the center of the table from 6",
imitates your largest client hopping up and dropping down onto the table.
This test is so important that it sets the dynamic load
ratings for the tables and creates the standards for many of the other
tests.

At
Oakworks, we
run the tests required...
and then we run a few more.
Component Testing:
Oakworks also
tests separate components: leg extensions, face rests, table peaking,
cables, connections, materials and more.
Every feature and component is designed and tested, not just for what
it does, but for how it behaves in constant interaction with every other
part: every joint, bolt, brace and hinge.
Cycle Testing:
To
test for durability we repeat 62,000 cycles of 200 lbs. applied to the
end, again to the side and on the diagonal too: a concentrated simulation
of more than ten years of your toughest eight hour days, five days a
week.
The table cart is raised and dropped for 18,000 cycles to simulate
years of stairs and curbs and all the abuse of travel.
Pounding Test: In addition, we lower 250 lbs. onto the center
of the table over 9,000 times, simulating the repeated mounting and
dismounting of your table by larger clients.
Portal Pro Testing:Now
the Portal Pro3 is UL listed too. To achieve a dynamic load of 350
lbs. we drop tested it, with that load, from a height of 6 inches.
We also
performed a stability test whereby the chair, loaded with the full dynamic
load, withstands the impact of a 50 lb. pendulum dropped to impact the
side of the chest pad.
You can count on
us.
We promise to continually set the highest standards for safety
and durability.
